What does the HandScanner detect?
How do I check HandScanner effectiveness?
PathSpot has a dedicated team to provide you in-detail analysis of your locationâs HandScanning activity. We allow you to subscribe to weekly and daily reports to be automatically sent to your email while at the same time schedule weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly calls with our CS team to review store status.
You can also login to our PathSpot.app dashboard at any time and see the HandScanning activity across your stores on our Handwashing Dashboard!
How does the detection technology work?
It uses a technology called visible light fluoresence spectroscopy. LED lights on the bottom of the device emit a specific wavelength of blue-purple light onto the hands. The target molecules in the contamination are excited by this specific wavelength, and using a series of sensors and filters below the device along with a proprietary algorithm, our system can measure the fluorescent response of that contamination. The detection is a simple yes or no result on whether contamination is present so your team has the information needed to correct risk.
Is the light harmful UV?
No, it is completely safe! The color of the light used during the scan is on the visible spectrum and is not a UV light. The LED lights are a blue-purple color, and it is not harmful. The HandScanner is completely safe for routine use.

Can the HandScanner help me protect against coronavirus / COVID-19?
As handwashing experts, weâre working with our customers and major institutions everyday to ensure they are fully prepared for Coronavirus and taking the correct preventative measures. The #1 way for restaurants to reduce the rate of transmission is to provide the correct facilities to enable staff to practice good hygiene, and ensure effective supervision of staff to reinforce hygienic practices.
The PathSpot Contamination Monitoring System enables real-time handwashing feedback (on both quality and quantity) by scanning users handsâ for dangerous contamination. The system also collects data, so management teams can easily monitor and ensure proper hygienic practices are carried out at all times, in all locations. By analyzing this aggregated data, PathSpot identifies gaps in sanitation compliance and informs customized trainings for specific locations, shifts, and individuals. As an example, maybe an employee frequently forgets to scrub under their fingernailsâor doesnât leave time to wash their hands as they arrive for their shift. PathSpot empowers managers to provide actionable, targeted feedback and builds a positive culture of individual accountability for sanitation, which is incredibly important during an outbreak like COVIDâ19.
